Sony Electronics Proof of Purchase Questions

Q: Where do I find the Sony Model Number?

A: The Sony Model Number is on the bottom or back of the product box/packaging on the Sony Electronics bar code. The Model Number is in the upper right corner as indicated.

Q: Where do I find the Serial Number?

A: The Sony Serial Number is on the product’s bottom or back. On some products the Serial Number is also on the Sony Electronics bar code, generally starting with an S. The Serial Number is the 6 or 7 digit number below the middle bar code as indicated.

Q: Where do I find the UPC?

A: The UPC is on the bottom or back of the product box/packaging on the Sony Electronics bar code. The UPC is the 12 digit number below the largest bar code as indicated. When you remove the Sony Electronics bar code, be sure to include the digits on the far left and right.

Q: Do I need to send my original UPC and original receipt?

A: In general, these are the rules, but check the specific requirements for each promotion:

  • UPC: an original is required; a copy is not acceptable.
  • Receipt: an original or copy is acceptable.

Q: I threw my box away and no longer have the Sony Electronics bar code. Can I still qualify for the promotion?

A: Submissions without the complete, original Sony Electronics barcode will be rejected.

Q: How do I check the status of my submission?

A: You have two options:

Q: How long should I wait if www.rebate-zone.com/sony says my submission is valid, but I have not received the check?

A: Allow 8-10 weeks for your rebate check or award item after we receive your properly completed rebate submission.

Q: I did not cash the rebate check before it expired. Can I get a new check?

A: No. As the submission form states, rebate checks are void if not cashed within 90 days of issuance and cannot be reissued.

Q: I think my submission was rejected in error. With whom can I discuss this?

A: With your submission copies on hand, call us toll free at 866-838-0421, 7am to 5pm CT, weekdays. If you do not have copies, resolving potential issues could be difficult.

Retailer and Etailer Questions

Q: There appear to be 2 rebates available for my Sony product and both promotions ask for the original UPC. Where do I send the original?

A: When this occurs, it usually means Sony is sponsoring one rebate and another company--often the retailer/etailer--is sponsoring the other rebate. If the Sony submission form requires an original UPC code, you must comply to receive the rebate sponsored by Sony.

Q: The retailer did not have the Sony product I wanted and they said the Sony product they were substituting would qualify for the rebate. They gave me a letter to include with my rebate submission explaining the situation. Is my submission going to qualify?

A: No. Each Sony offer form lists all products that qualify. Sony designs promotions for specific products and does not allow product substitutions regardless of information you learn from other sources, so please read the offer form carefully.

Q: What if the details on the retailer's rebate form differ from the rebate form at www.rebate-zone.com/sony?

Mailing Address Questions

Q: I purchased the product in the US, but I do not have a US address. Will my rebate or award be mailed to me outside the US?

A: To receive a Sony rebate or award, we require a mailing address in the 50 United States, excluding territories. We cannot mail to addresses outside the US.

Q: I do not have a street address, but I have a PO box. Can I still qualify for the promotion?

A: Contact the USPS to confirm the street address that corresponds to your PO box and include it along with your PO box when you send your submission. PO boxes are only acceptable when accompanied by a corresponding street address.

Sony Questions

Q: I think I need my product packaging for warranty purposes. What happens if I cut the Sony Electronics bar code panel off the box?

A: For your convenience, we recommend that you register your new product at www.sonystyle.com and we will keep track of your warranty for you. Keep in mind that registering your product is a different process than requesting your rebate, so you should keep photocopies of all rebate submission materials, including the Sony Electronics bar code.
